Media Scope Group launches mirror server to support open source projects

Media Scope Group and Open Source

We are excited to announce that Media Scope Group has launched a mirror server for open source communities and projects, with Ubuntu being the first beneficiary. Ubuntu is one of the most popular open source Linux distributions powering millions of servers, clouds, AI and big data applications. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to support open source communities and enhance digital sovereignty in Europe and beyond.

The newly opened mirror, officially recognized by the Ubuntu Project, will host repositories of Ubuntu, enabling companies, organizations and individuals to benefit from faster internet links and secure HTTPS connections for downloading software, updates, patches and security updates. This mirror is available to anyone, anywhere, ensuring that users across the globe can access Ubuntu’s resources with ease.

Benefits of using our mirror server for open source software

Using the Media Scope Group mirror server offers several advantages:

  • Faster downloads: As our mirror server has the internet link speed of 50 Gbps, it provides faster internet links, reducing the time it takes to download software and updates.
  • Enhanced security: With secure HTTPS connections, users can trust that their downloads are safe and protected from tampering.
  • Global accessibility: The mirror is available to anyone, anywhere, making it easier for users worldwide to access Ubuntu’s resources.
  • Support for open source: By using our mirror, you are supporting Media Scope Group’s efforts to promote and sustain open source communities and projects.

Future plans for expanding support

Media Scope Group is committed to supporting the open-source ecosystem and has exciting plans for the future. We plan to launch additional mirrors in other regions, particularly in East Asia, Southeast Asia and near the African continent. These efforts aim to support the social, economic and technological development of developing countries.

Emphasizing digital sovereignty

At Media Scope Group, we believe that digital sovereignty is crucial for the future of technology and innovation. By hosting open source software and providing secure, reliable access to these resources, we are empowering communities and organizations to take control of their digital infrastructure. Our efforts to boost European digital sovereignty are just the beginning, and we are dedicated to expanding this initiative globally.

Dawid Wiktor, Chief Executive Officer of Media Scope Group, emphasizes, “Digital sovereignty is essential for ensuring that communities and nations can independently manage and protect their digital infrastructure. Through our efforts aimed at supporting open source projects and providing secure access to software resources, we are fostering innovation and resilience in the digital age.”

Commitment to open source and collaborative innovation

Media Scope Group is dedicated to making even more contributions to open source communities and projects. We are committed to supporting open and collaborative innovation, ensuring that the benefits of open source software are accessible to all. In this way, Media Scope Group gives back to open source communities, as we also benefit from open source software that is at the core of our digital transformation services and solutions for our clients and partners.

In the coming months, Media Scope Group will also host more open source software. We invite open source communities and projects to send inquiries if they wish to have their software hosted on our mirror for free. Please note that this opportunity is exclusively available to open source software, as closed-source projects are not eligible.

We are proud to contribute to the open source ecosystem and look forward to supporting more projects in the future.
